CRITERIADESCRIPTION
Part I: What I know/think/believe/have heard/have been taught about X and what I want to discover about X (250 min/400 max)The paper opens with a narrative that describes the writer’s interest in the topic. This section could include anecdotal evidence and first person. The writer’s position and voice are clear.
Part II: The Research ProcessThe research journal is complete.

The journal contains:


All class invention activities – prompted and completed during class periods
Documentation of your research process (Otter AI et al transcripts accepted for journal)

Comparative source report (including summary) 
Three annotated textual sources (can be primary sources)—photos/jpegs ok
An outline of the research paper
Part III: What I learned: (1300 min/1600 max)This section will mostly conform to traditional research writing style and guidelines. Sources are introduced and quoted. There may be minimal summary. There should be synthesis and comparison of the information from the sources. Can be written in a narrative style, and can include first person.
Part IV: What I think about what I learned (or didn’t learn): (250 min/500 max)You close the paper with a reflection about what you’ve discovered during your research. Did the research add to your knowledge on the subject, reaffirm what you thought, give you a new perspective on the topic? This section will reflect back on your opening narrative and research.
FulfillmentThe paper adheres to MLA guidelines for citation and works cited list.

The paper fulfills the source requirement (8 total):

• 2 primary (interview, survey, diaries, letters, eyewitness accounts, speeches, datasets)
• 2 academic (from library database/journals)
• 1 text from either class (topic or comp) reading list
• 3 other (narrative, newspaper articles, videos, screen grabs, Tweets, blog posts, movies, images, songs, poems advertisements, novels, essays, video games, cartoons, whatevs).


The paper is organized and has been edited for clarity.

The paper is divided into four sections, and fulfills the requirements with regard to word count.
