CLASS FACILITATION
| CRITERIA | DEFINITION |
|---|---|
| PREPARATION | The group prepares a specific lesson plan for their discussion facilitation that describes the entire 30 minute facilitation. The lesson plan summarizes or outlines the specific content that will be presented to the class and describes the format of the discussion or activity. The plan must include a component that requires the participation of the entire class for at least half of the total time. This is not a presentation, it’s a class activity!! |
| PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSION | All members of the group participate in the presentation of the material for discussion or the facilitation of the discussion. Participation can include introducing the content, introducing the format of the discussion, troubleshooting the format of the discussion, answering questions on content or format, and/or providing feedback on class commentary. In short, every group member should play an active role in the discussion facilitation. |
| FOLLOW UP | Within a week of the facilitated discussion, the group produces a discussion report. The content of the report should be determined by the group based on what they consider the most important information that emerged during the facilitation. You could analyze the effectiveness of the facilitation, summarize class reaction and response to the facilitation, and/or report on how the activity impacted their understanding of the content. |
| FULFILLMENT | The group successfully fulfills all assignment criteria and submits all documents before associated deadlines. The lesson plan is submitted by 8pm on Tuesday September 27th. The discussion report is submitted within one week of the class facilitation, is formatted according to MLA standards, and is 1000-1500 words. |
